Kim Storfer Joins 4medica as Director of Implementations

Former HEALTHeLINK data management executive accepts the 4medica Director of Implementations position to spearhead Big Data interoperability initiatives

MARINA DEL REY, Calif.—April 03, 2019 — 4medica® today announced that Kim Storfer has been appointed as the 4medica Director of Implementations to lead initiatives assisting provider clients including accountable care organizations (ACOs) and health information exchanges (HIEs) deploy its Big Data Management Solutions, specifically 4medica Big Data MPI™ and the 4medica Big Data CDR™. Storfer will address the healthcare market’s accelerated demand for integrating and normalizing multiple disparate data sources into a single clinically structured patient-centric record.

“We are fortunate to have Kim join our team. Her domain knowledge and leadership in HIE and data management are a perfect fit for this newly created position,” said Gregg Church, president of 4medica. “Creating a true clinical interoperability network is the cornerstone of our ‘one patient, one record’ vision. Many patients see multiple physicians across their community, therefore providers must be more agile to scale and share data to increase efficacy of coordinated care management. Kim’s experience is instrumental in helping our clients optimize their use of our interoperability platform to achieve this priority.”

Storfer has more than 20 years’ experience in healthcare data integration and management including data
source onboarding. She served on the board of the HIE User Group, HUG, for seven years and the last five
as chair.

Storfer served most recently as director of client services at Zen Healthcare IT. There, she supported a variety of organizations including HIEs and improved prescription data monitoring program (PDMP) integrations and data standardization.

During her tenure at HEALTHeLINK, Storfer developed data source implementation and documentation processes as well as managed key components of a major platform migration requiring an enterprise master patient index and data integrity. HEALTHeLINK is the not-for-profit regional health information organization (RHIO) consisting of hospitals, physicians, payers and other providers in the eight counties of western New York State. HEALTHeLINK participants collaborate to securely exchange clinical information to improve the quality of care, enhance patient safety and mitigate costs.

“I am excited to help 4medica implement its proven solution that we, in the HIE space, have been looking for a master patient index to do for years,” said Kim Storfer, 4medica’s director of implementations. “My passion is data standards and ensuring that data is used as a valuable tool to improve patient outcomes. What attracted me to 4medica was the ease of its user interface, ability to match patient data accurately and other advancements designed to operationalize your data management team.”

“For instance, enabling users to customize data steward work through the use of an interactive work list is truly revolutionary,” she continued. “The 4medica solution flags those patient records requiring action, which in turn prevents five people from tripping over each other when assigned to the same work queue. The 4medica Big Data Management and Clinical Data Exchange platforms further enable organizations to implement a full health information exchange system or individual applications such as lab, radiology and pathology for real-time clinical interoperability in the inpatient or outpatient setting.”

Storfer earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration and informatics from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor of science degree in management from Houghton College in Houghton, New York.
