4Medica Appoints Michael E. Warthen as VP of Sales and Business Development
Healthcare IT Veteran to Spearhead Product Strategy and Positioning for Leading Provider of Internet-Based
Clinical Laboratory Solutions
Culver City, Calif. - October 2, 2003 - 4Medica - the leading independent provider of systems to transmit
medical laboratory test results, orders and related data via the Internet - today announced the appointment of
Michael E. Warthen as the company's new vice president of sales and business development. In his new post,
Warthen will help 4Medica build upon the strong sales momentum of its proprietary suite of clinical connectivity
systems, including its core Retriever™ test results and ordering products.
Warthen comes to 4Medica with more than 25 years of senior-level sales and marketing experience in healthcare
information systems, eBusiness and smart card technology.
Prior to joining 4Medica, Warthen served as manager of eHealthcare business development for SeeBeyond (formerly
Software Technologies Corp.), where he helped the enterprise application integration provider gain prominence in
the healthcare industry. He also helped launch MedAssure, LLC (a Datacard Group subsidiary), serving as the
director of sales & planning for the world's first portable patient record solution utilizing smart card, PKI
and Internet technologies.
Other experience includes serving as director of health industry marketing for Datacard Corporation, senior
marketing consultant for hospital information system (HIS) provider SMS Corporation and account executive for
Cerner Corporation - the world's leading provider of integrated clinical information systems. Warthen began his
career at IBM in its Health Industry Division, where he held various sales and management positions.
